4,000 teaching posts vacant in 46 varsities

There are 4,150 vacancies for teachers in 46 public universities of the country, said Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni.

She made the remarks in response to a question raised by Member of Parliament (MP) for Chittagong-4 constituency DidarulAlam, during a question-and-answer session in the 15th session of the 11th National Parliament on Monday.

According to the information given by the Minister, there are 193,358 male students and 104,599 female students out of 297,957 students in 57 universities. On the other hand, there are 15,293 teachers in total. Moreover, 46 public universities have 4,150 vacancies for teaching posts.

Replying to another question from MP for Noakhali-2 constituency MorshedAlam, the Minister said a project titled "Development of Land Survey Education in Bangladesh" is being implemented in 4 districts of the country through the Directorate of Technical Education.

Of these, 2 survey institutes are being expanded and developed. The two existing institutions are: Bangladesh Survey Institute in Cumilla and Engineering and Survey Institute in Rajshahi.

In addition, new Land Survey Educational Institutions are being set up at Dashmina in Patuakhali, and at Monirampur in Jessore.
