36 sued over bomb attack in Benapole

Pistols, bullets also recovered

At least 36 people have been charged in connection with a Bomb attack in the port of Benapole to captured the handling work. Three cases were registered at Benapole Port Police Station on Tuesday morning. Four Bombs, one pistol and five rounds of bullet were recovered.

Two and half thousands Port workers joined the port this morning after police assured them of taking legal action against the bomb attacker.  As a result, import and export trade resume through Benapole port. Cargo loading and unloading and delivered of goods are ongoing on in the port.

Since Tuesday morning, 236 trucks of goods have been imported and 69 trucks of goods have been exported to India. Police have arrested eight people involved in the bomb attacked  after conducting raids at various places in the area last night. It may be mentioned that a group of outer terrorists carried out more than 70 bomb attacks in front of the Benapole Port Workers' Union around 11 am on Monday.

20 workers were injured including one policeman in the bomb attacked. Ahiduzzaman Ahid, general secretary of 925 workers union, said, At present port handling workers are loading and unloading goods and delivered the goods quickly.

Municipal councilor Rashed  and his supporters  hurled crude bombs has created an unstable environment in the port by bringing bombs and arms from India to occupy the port.  Load-unloading and import-export trade was closed in the port full day on Monday.

Benapole Port Deputy Director A Jalil said that at present two and a half thousand workers are working in the port. To destabilize the port, Rashed's and his supporter are trying to destroy the port environment by carrying out bomb attacks. Additional police are currently deployed in the port area. Import-export activities have resumed from Tuesday morning.

Benapole Port Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain Bhuiyan said, Councilor Rashed is the main accused in the bomb attack and vandalism at the port yesterday and three cases have been registered in the police station mentioning the names of 36 people. 8 people have been arrested. Five rounds bullets including 4 bombs, 1 magazine were seized from Rashed's private car.  However, additional police have been deployed in the port area for fear of renewed clashes.
