359 more test positive for Covid-19 in Khulna

BSS, Khulna A total of 359 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in all 10 districts of Khulna division on Saturday till 8.00am, climbing the number of infected patients to 1,20,491.

Two more deaths in last 24 hours, so total fatalities from the disease reached 3,206 including 810 in Khulna, followed by 791 in Kustia, 519 in Jashore, 269 in Jhenidah, 189 in Chuadanga, 145 in Bagerhat, 121 in Narail, 183 in Meherpur, 91 in Magura and 88 in Satkhira while on more fatalities was reported afresh on the day, said Dr Monjur Morshed, Khulna divisional director of Health.

 The new daily infection figure shows reduces compared to the previous day's figure m857, said the health department sources.  "Among the infected people, 1, 09,636 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 22 new recoveries found on Saturday morning," said Dr Monjur, adding that a total of 18,611 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at different designated hospitals.

Besides, all the positive cases for Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 1, 21,541 were kept in isolation units of different hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 1, 13.605 have now been released.

On the other hand, 40 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 11 others were released from isolation during the last 24 hours till 8 am on Saturday.

Of the total 359 new positive cases, the highest 117 were detected in Jashore followed by 99 in Khulna, 52 in Kustia, 40 in Jhenidah, 44 in Magura, 25 in Chuadanga, 18 in Naril, six in Meherpur, and two in Magura in the division.

With the new 359 detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 29,895 in Khulna, 23,655 in Jashore, 20,016 in Kustia, 10,302 in Jhenidah, 7,604 in Satkhira, 7,292 in Bagerhat, 7,254 in Chuadanga, 5,193 in Narail, 4,892 in Meherpur and 4,388 in Magura.

 A total of 1, 04,928 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 in 2020 to prevent the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).   Of them, 1, 04, 589 people, now, have been released as they were given clearance after completing their respective 14-day quarantine.
