A joint team comprising the Bangladesh Army, Police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the Upazila Administration detained 345 Rohingyas during an operation at the Burma Colony in Wards No. 2 and 7 of Dohazari Municipality under Chandanaish Upazila in Chattogram.
The operation was conducted from Thursday morning to noon on February 5 as part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and maintain law and order ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election.
Among those detained were 176 men, 86 women, and 83 minors. According to Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, the detained Rohingyas were handed over, with administrative assistance, to the Rohingya camps in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar.
The joint team of the Army, Police, and BGB stated that the operation will continue.
