Police rescued 34 Rohingya nationals including women and children from Daryayanagar Barachhara area in Cox’s Bazar town on Wednesday midnight, moments before being trafficked to Malaysia by sea.

Cox's Bazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Farid Uddin Khandaker said that the drive was conducted at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday.

Of the rescued people, 11 were male, 15 female, four girls and four children, said the OC.
Farid said that on information, a team of police conducted a raid at the area. Sensing presence of law enforcers, traffickers fled the scene, but police succeeded rescuing the Rohingyas.

"Recently, human traffickers lured the Rohingyas from Ukhia and Teknaf refugee camps for the purpose of trafficking to Malaysia by the sea. The rescued Rohingya have been kept in the police station,’’ said OC.
Farid said, steps will be taken to send these Rohingyas to their own camps.
