33 Covid deaths in 24hrs

Bangladesh registered 33 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,703 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 8,016 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,887,271, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity rate stands 18.83 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.68 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.52 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the deceased, 24 were males and nine were females. Of them, 15 were from Dhaka, six from Chattogram, four from Rajshahi and two each from Khulna, Sylhet and Mymensingh and one each from Barisal and Rangpur division. 

A total of 42,564 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 10,725 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,633,582 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 86.56 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,785,076 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 401,819,251 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
