In Habiganj district, government assistance of Tk 1 crore 16 lakh has been provided to 327 cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, paralyzed stroke, congenital heart and thalassemia patients.
The Social Services Department distributed the cheque in the conference room of Habiganj district administration on Thursday afternoon.
Habiganj-3 MP Advocate Md Abu Zahir was the chief guest on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Karul Hasan presided over the function.
793 sick patients from all municipalities including 9 upazilas of Habiganj applied for help. Out of this, 327 people were identified in the financial year 2019-2020.
Later, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, the Department of Social Services gave them a one-time check of Tk 50,000 and a total of Tk 1 crore 16 lakh.
District Social Service Officer Md. Habibur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Morzina Akter and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, MP Abu Zahir said the Ministry of Social Welfare is working for the neglected people under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The government is increasing the number of beneficiaries in the country day by day. Assuring that this trend will continue, he requested everyone to abide by the government health rules in the corona situation.
