32,000 smart prepaid meters to be installed in Magura

As many as 32,000 users will get smart pre-paid electricity meters across Magura districts in phases. Some 15,000 pre-paid meters will be installed in the first phase while the rest 17,000 subscribers will enjoy the facility soon.

This was revealed during a meeting at the deputy commissioner's Conference Room on Thursday with Nasrul Hamid inaugurating the event online. Magura Deputy Commissioner AshrafulAlam presided over the meeting while SaifuzzamanShikhar, MP for Magura-1 constituency, RahmatUllah, additional secretary of the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources ministry, Shahidul Islam, director of pre-paid metering project, Nazmul Huda, deputy director of WZPDCL, Ratan Kumar Saha, principal of Magura Medical College, Pankaj Kundu, chairman of ZilaParishad, Abu Nasir Bablu, chairman of SadarUpazila, KhurshidHaiderTutul, mayor of MaguraMaunicipality, Manjurul Islam, executive engineer of MaguraPower Development Board, and Shamim Khan, general secretery of MaguraPress Club, among others, took part in the meeting. 

On the opening day Magura District and Sessions Judge Kamrul Hasan and Deputy Commissioner AshrafulAlam's residence two smart pre-paid payment electricity meters was installed.

Addressing the function as the chief guest, Nasrul Hamid  praised the effort of lawmaker Shikharfor ensuring power supply in the latter’s jurisdiction. “The MP reached out to me as soon as there was power outage in Magura, even it was for just 10 minutes,” Nasrul Hamid said.

MP Shikharalso thanked the minister for his relentless effort to development in the power sector in the country.
