A total of 31,280 farmers in Lakshmipur will receive agricultural incentives under the Agricultural Rehabilitation Programme during Kharif-2 season in 2024-25 fiscal year.
The distribution programme began on Thursday where winter vegetable seeds, cash assistance, and crop seeds along with chemical fertilizers were given to farmers affected by heavy rainfall, floods, and onrush of water.
The distribution event was held at the auditorium of the upazila parishad. Deputy Director of Lakshmipur Department of Agricultural Extension, Sohel Md Shamsuddin Firoz, presided over the programme. It was conducted by Lakshmipur sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Hasan Imam. The Chief Guest at the event was Deputy Commissioner Rajib Kumar Sarkar. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Jepy Dewan and Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abhi Dash attended the programme as special guests.
It was learnt that, in Lakshmipur sada upazila, 6,000 thousand farmers will receive eight types of winter vegetable seeds, while 2,655 farmers will receive seeds for wheat, maize, mustard, and other Rabi crops, along with 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP (a total of 20 kg of chemical fertilizers), and cash assistance of Tk 1,000 each. The Department of Agricultural Extension said that, a total of 31,280 farmers across five upazilas in the district would receive agricultural incentives. Among them, 20,000 farmers will receive winter vegetable seeds and cash assistance, and 13,280 farmers with Rabi incentives, amounting to a total aid of Tk two crore.
