300 workers received PM’s gift in Ctg

Chattogram District Administration distributed gifts from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina among 300 members of the Decorators Owners-Workers Association of Chattogram City during a severe lockdown in the Covid-19 virus situation.

Chattogram Divisional Commi­ssioner Md Kamrul Hasan distributed the gift items as the chief guest at the gymnasium hall adjacent to MA Aziz Stadium on Sunday morning.

 Each packet of gift items included- 10 kg of rice, 1 kg of pulses, 1 kg of sugar, 1 kg of salt, 1 liter of soybean oil, 1piece of soap.

 Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman presided over the function.  Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) SM Zakaria, Additional Deputy Commi­ssioner (Revenue) Mohammad Nazmul Ahsan, PS of Divisional Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Khandaker Md. Ikhtiyar Uddin Arafat, Executive Magistrate Naima Islam, NDC and Executive Magistrate Masud Rana, Executive Magistrate Ashraful Alam, Executive Magistrate Zillur Rahman, Executive Magistrate Nur Jahan Akter Sathi, Executive Magistrate Pratik Dutta, Chattogram Metropolitan Muktijoddha Sangsad Unit Commander Freedom Fighter Mozaffar Ahmed, District Relief Officer Sajeeb Kumar Chakraborty Uddin were present on the occasion. 

Volunteer Team SAARC Bangladesh Foundation assisted in the relief work.

Chattogram Divisional Commi­ssioner Kamrul Hasan said that under the direction of the government, the gifts given by the government are being delivered to the poor, destitute and indigent people of the society.  At this time, it is being strictly supervised so that no unemployed person is excluded from government assistance.  He appealed to all to be aware of corona, maintain physical distance and observe 100% hygiene rule with wearing mask.

 Divisional commissioner said that among the lower and middle class people who are hesitant to seek help in public or call the government on 333 and send an SMS to us asking for help, gifts are being delivered to their homes every night.  They want no one to starve in this situation.

 Chattogram Deputy Commissioner said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given clear instructions to bring relief to all the working people who have lost their jobs or are in dire straits due to the Corona situation.  Everyone who is living in extreme lockdown will be brought under government relief.  

He called upon the government as well as the rich people and institutions of the society to come forward to help the people who have become unemployed in the lockdown.
