The Nagao Natural Environment Foundation of Japan has awarded scholarships to 30 meritorious students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in the capital.
Certificates and cheques of NEF scholarships were distributed among the students at the conference room of the AFM Bahauddin Nashim Administrative Building on the campus in Dhaka on Thursday, according to a press release.
The students will get approximately Tk 36,000 per year for the next three years.
Vice-chancellor Md Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan was present as chief guest at the event, while Faculty of Agriculture dean Md Zafar Ullah and Post Graduate Studies dean professor Md Abdur Razzak were present as special guests.
NEF Bangladesh committee member and Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University NEF scholarship committee president professor Md Farhad Hossain presided over the programme, while Agriculture, Forestry and Environmental Science Department chairman professor Md Shahriar Zaman moderated the event.
Nagao Natural Environment Foundation is a non-governmental organisation in Japan. Nagao founded the organisation in November 1989 to protect the environment in developing countries.
