30.59 pc Covid-19 positivity rate recorded in Rangpur

Rangpur division recorded 30.59 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 115 new cases were reported on Tuesday after testing 376 samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories in the division, reports BSS.

"The daily positivity rate continues rising and remains mostly above the 30 percent mark in recent weeks in the division," Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui told BSS.

Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 31.84 percent on Monday, 31.44 percent on Sunday, 34.84 percent on Saturday, 32.14 percent on Friday, 31.39 percent on Thursday and 28.41 percent on Wednesday last in the division. Among the 115 new patients diagnosed today, 55 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city. "The 55 new patients include 30 from Rangpur, three from Kurigram, nine from Lalmonirhat and 13 from Gaibandha districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 7:05 pm.

On the other hand, 60 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

"The 60 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 40 from Dinajpur, six each from Thakurgaon and Panchagarh and eight from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Talking to BSS, Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 34,049 as 115 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

 "The district-wise break up of total 34,049 patients now stands at 7,447 Rangpur, 1,689 Panchagarh, 2,521 in Nilphamari, 1,881 in Lalmonirhat, 2,404 in Kurigram, 4,780 in Thakurgaon, 10,534 in Dinajpur and 2,793 in Gaibandha of the division," he said.
