At least three thousand patients were treated in free medical camp in Jhenidah on Friday. Jhenidah officers’ forum in Dhaka organized the day long camp at Jhenidah government Keshab Chandra College. Health secretary Mohammad Asadul Islam inaugurated the camp as chief guest. It was the first ever free medical camp where over a thousand of patients were given treatment in a day, the organizers said.
Jhenidah government Keshab Chandra College principal Professor Dr. BM Rezaul Karim chaired the programme. Post and telecommunication secretary Nurur Rahaman, deputy commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath, Magura medical College and hospital principal Professor Aloke Kumar Saha, Khulna divisional director of health department Rasida Sultana, Jhenidah civil surgeon Salina Begum, deputy secretary Manjurul Hafiz, Jhenidah municipality mayor and general secretary of Bangladesh Awami league Jhenidah district unit Saidul Karim Mintu and additional superintendent of police Tarek Al Mehedi among others spoke.
A total of 165 physicians including 65 specialists examined the patients of different category and provided treatment free of cost. Some of the patients were also provided some drugs during the treatment in the camp.
