3 placed on remand over attack on Ducsu VP Nur

A court in the capital on Tuesday placed three leaders of Muktijuddho Moncho on three-day remand in a case lodged over the recent attack on Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur, reports BSS.

The three accused are – Al Mamum, general secretary of a faction of Muktijuddho Mancha central unit, Turjo, general secretary of its Dhaka University unit and Mehedy Hasan Shanto, office secretary of Muktijuddho Mancha. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Moinul Islam passed the order as police produced the trio before the court. Shahbag Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Arifur Rahman Sardar pleaded to place them on 5-day remand.

On December 22, activists of a faction of Muktijoddha Mancha suddenly attacked Ducsu VP Nur and his supporters at his office at Ducsu-building, leaving at least 34 people injured. A case was filed against eight Muktijuddha Mancha leaders and activists and 30 to 35 other unknown people with Shahbag Police Station in this connection on Tuesday.
