Three people were killed when a passenger bus lost control and crashed into roadside shops in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni. The deceased were Shamim Ara Begum (50), wife of Shahid Ullah of Khushipur village; Md Shrabon (20), son of Abdul Matin of Dakshin Jayloshkar village; and an unidentified man aged about 20. At least 30 others were injured, with several in critical condition. The accident took place around 10am on Thursday at Silonia Bazar.
According to police and eyewitnesses, a Sugandha Paribahan bus was passing through the bazar when the driver lost control. The vehicle rammed into five shops and a CNG auto-rickshaw, leaving them mangled. The loud impact caused panic, and locals rushed to assist.
Police and fire service teams arrived quickly and began rescue efforts. The injured were taken to Feni General Hospital, where doctors declared three people dead. Hospital officials said several others remain in serious condition.
Residents say accidents occur frequently due to the absence of a long-demanded footbridge and haphazard parking. The area is now in mourning. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem at Feni General Hospital.
