Two people were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Jashore Sadar upazila early Thursday.
The accident took place around 4 am in Natunhaat area on the Jashore-Benapole highway.
The deceased were identified as Masudur Rahman Milon, 40, former sports affairs secretary of Jashore District Chhatra League, and Jui, 30, from Sarathi Mill area in Jashore.
Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Hasnat, said the victims were traveling towards Benapole in a private car. On the way, the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into a roadside tree, leaving Milon and Jui dead on the spot.
Local residents rushed to the scene, rescued the injured, and informed police. Law enforcement later recovered the bodies and sent those to morgue.
The injured were taken to Jessore General Hospital for treatment.
