A three-day training workshop for three-wheeler drivers began at the auditorium of Joupurhat Sadar Upazila Parishad on Sunday (January 17).

Joypurhat district police arranged the training workshop in a bid to build up awareness about the Road Transport Act-2018.

Police Super Mohammad Salam Kabir inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. It was also addressed, among others, by additional police super Tariqul Islam, Sadar Circle SP Abdus Salam, Traffic Inspector Jamirul Islam, general secretary of district Motor Sramik Union Rafiqul Islam Rafiq and president of Auto Sramik Union Md. Abu Musa Sarkar.

More than three hundred auto drivers participated the workshop in the opening day.

Police Super said, “Accidents were not caused by drivers only. We cannot issue driving license in full compliance with the rules, setting up roadside shops illegally, passengers crossing roads in a hurry and incompetent drivers causing accidents.”

He also said that drivers must remember that human lives are valuable more than time. “We all have to come forward to take the country forward. If necessary, it will be brought under law but police will not touch anyone,” he said.
