3-day training on investigative reporting ends in Cox’s Bazar

Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) has organized a three-day 'Investigative Reporting Training' in Cox's Bazar. Certificates are distributed among the participants at the end.

PIB Director General Ekushey Medal winning journalist Zafar Wazed presided over the concluding ceremony of the training at Cox's Bazar Press Club auditorium on Tuesday afternoon. The chief guest was Shah Rezwan Hayat, Commissioner, Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation. Cox's Bazar Press Club and Cox's Bazar Journalists Union President Abu Taher Chowdhury General Secretary Bangladesh Federal Journalists Union Member Mojibul Islam spoke at the closing ceremony.

Zulfiqar Ali Manik, Idol of Investigative Journalism, Stringer of New York Times and Planning Consultant of Boishakhi Television were the trainers for 3 days of the training. In three separate sessions, he discussed at length the need for investigative reporting and its impact on society, the limitations and do's and don'ts of gathering information in investigative reporting, the importance of research in investigative reporting, and the areas of investigative reporting: development, economics, crime. . Shah Alam, Instructor of Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) also discussed about 'Do's and Don'ts of Journalists in Reporting'.

35 media personnel from various print and electronic media working in Cox's Bazar district are participating in the training.

At the end, Zafar Wazed, Director General of the Press Institute (PIB) and Shah Rezwan Hayat, Commissioner for Refugee Relief and Repatriation handed over the certificates to the participating media personnel.
