3-day Nat’l Nazrul Conference begins in Pabna

The three-day long National Nazrul Conference began in Pabna on Friday. Kabi Nazrul Institute 

under the Cultural Affairs Ministry with the support of Pabna district administration is organising the conference.   


Dr Biswajit Ghosh, Vice Chancellor of Rabindra University, inaugurated the conference by cutting ribbon on the premises of Government Edward College in Pabna. 

Md Jasim Uddin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Pabna, presided over the inaugural ceremony. Dr Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, Secretary in-charge for Ministry of Cultural affairs spoke at the event. 

Md Abdur Razzak Bhuian, Executive Director of Kabi Nazrul Institute, Md Shawkat Ali, Director of National Library of Bangladesh, eminent educationalist Md Kamruzzaman, Prof Dr Humayun Kabir Mazumdar, principal of Government Edward College, Additional District Magistrate Mokhlesur Rahman, ADC Shafiul Islam, ADC (Edu & ICT) Shahed Parvez, Additional Superintendent of Police Goutam Kumar Bissash and president of Pabna Press Club Shibjit Nag spoke at the progrmame, among others. 

Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out in the district town marking the National Nazrul Conference. 

Literary person Makit Hayder, officials of Nazrul Institute and others like poets, journalists, cultural activists, teachers and students of many educational institutions took part in the rally.

The three-day long National Nazrul Conference was organised in Pabna for the first time. About 55 artists from Dhaka, Pabna and other parts of the country are taking part in the programme. 

A total of 25 stalls of book were set up in the conference venue for sale and display. Nazrul song and reciting from Nazrul’s poems will be staged every evening.
