Three-day conference on national poet Nazrul was concluded with festivity in Jhenidah on Monday. The day was inaugurated through a colourful rally and releasing pigeons in the sky in the morning of the day.
A discussion meeting was held at Government Nurunnahar Women’s College auditorium with Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath in the chair. Lawmaker of Jhenidah-1 constituency Abdul Hyee distributed certificates and prizes among the winners, police super Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, Government Nurunnahar Women’s college principal Manirul Alam, Awami League leader Ashoke Dhar and poet Rezauddin Stalin were present as special guests.
The chief guest and other distinguished guests in their speech discussed the life and works of Kazi Nazrul and realized that he was a strong voice against all odds in the society and the then British government. Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a great fan to Nazrul who had realized him and tried to establish him with honour and dignity in Bangladesh.
Bangabandhu’s successor today’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had taken another milestone efforts to bring the unfocused works of the rebel poet in the day light to speed up the democratic norms which the Father of the Nation dreamed of until his last moment.
Organized by Jhenidah district administration, the conference was thrown by the ministry of cultural affairs, scheduled with songs of the poet, discussion on his life and his philosophy began on Saturday morning.
