3 Armored Police Battalion (APBN) members in charge of security at the Rohingya camp in Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, have been arrested with yaba and counterfeit money on Thursday night.

SP Shihab Kaiser Khan, Commander of APBN-8 in Cox's Bazar, said three APBN members in charge of security at Tanjimarkhola No. 13 Rohingya Camp in Palangkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila were arrested in a raid.

The arrestees were identified as APBN-8 members Sub-Inspector Md Sohag, Constables Md. Miraj and Md. Nazim. Referring to the allegations from the local Rohingyas, SP Shihab said that SI Sohag, who was in charge of security at the Rohingya camp, had been pressurizing the head of A-block of the Rohingya camp Ekram (38) for selling yaba for a time.

As Ekram did not agree to this, a dispute arose between them. The local Rohingya Ekram later complained to the concerned officials of APBN about this.

"An APBN team conducted an investigation into the allegations on Thursday evening. At one point, Rohingya boatman Ekram got into an argument with SI Sohag, raising suspicions among the APBN's investigative team about Yaba's involvement."

The APBN captain said, "Later on Thursday night, a raid was carried out on SI Sohag's own room in the camp of APBN in Tanzimarkhola. A search of the house turned up 1,945 yaba and some counterfeit money. The member was arrested. "

Ukhia police chief Md. Sanjur Morshed said three members of the APBN, who were in charge of security at the Tanjimerkhola Rohingya camp in Ukhia, were arrested last night and handed over to the police station along with yaba and counterfeit money.

A case has been filed against the arrested under the relevant law, the OC said.
