At least three children died due to birth asphyxia disease in Thakurgaon Hospital in a day. These babies died soon after their birth or after one day.
On Saturday, Pediatrician Dr Shahjahan Newaz confirmed this matter at the Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital.
The deceased children are Babu (1 day), son of Mubarak Ali of Bhaloar Hat village of Sadar upazila, Babu (2 days), son of Swapan of Chilarang Union, and Baby (one hour) son of Sumon of Garia union.
According to the hospital information, about 135 patients were admitted to Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital in the last two days due to various diseases including cold. Many of them were sent back after providing treatment. At present, there are around 90 children admitted in the hospital. However, no patient has died so far in winter.
Dr Shahjahan Newaz said that the three children who died at Thakurgaon Modern Sadar Hospital in the last 24 hours were due to severe birth defects. There is nothing to be afraid of.
