The department of agriculture extension (DASE) in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila had distributed seeds, fertiliser distributed among 3,000 farmers in Jhenaidah. The agriculture inputs weredistributed at local Upazila Parishad premises on Wednesday morning.
The aim of the programme was to increase the yield of Aman paddy and make the farmers benefited, said DAE Jhenaidah office sources.
Additional deputy commissioner (ADC, general) Salim Reza, deputy director of the DAE Khamarbari in Jhenaidah Asgar Ali, Jhenaidah Sadar upazila Parishad chairman Abdur Rashid Advocate, assistant commissioner land in Jhenaidah Sadar Sharmin Akter Sumi, upazila agriculture officer Jahedul Karim and upazila vice chairman Rashidur Rahman Rasel among others spoke. A few hundred farmers were present there.
The government officials and peoples representatives in their speech said the government of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina has been doing anything and everything for the wellbeing of the people to strengthen the socio-economic state of the farmers so that they could produce adequate safe food grains for the nation.
DAE sources said, the DAE has been distriibuting five kolograms of Boro sedds and 20 kilograms of chemical fertilizers among the farmers in curremnt fiscal.
900 farmers will receive the same within a week, sources said.
