27 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rajshahi

Twenty-seven more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in five districts of the division on Tuesday, taking the caseload to 99,910 since the pandemic began in March last year.  However, the new positive cases are showing a falling trend compared to the previous day's figure of 40, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, divisional director of Health.  

Meanwhile, the recovery count rose to 96,287 in the division after seven patients were discharged from the hospitals on the same day. The death toll reached 1,691, including 687 in Bogura, 326 in Rajshahi with 208 in its city and 175 in Natore as one new fatality was reported during the past 24 hours, Dr Talukder added.  

Besides, all the positive cases of Covid-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 23,213 were kept in isolation units of different dedicated hospitals for institutional quarantine. Of them, 19,971 have been released. Meanwhile, 25 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while seven others were released from isolation during the same time. Of the 27 new cases, 18 were detected each in Rajshahi city, followed by five in Bogura, two in Natore and one each in Sirajganj and Pabna districts.  

With the newly detected patients, the district-wise break-up of the total cases now stands at 28,410 in Rajshahi including 22,965 in its city, 5,687 in Chapainawabganj, 6,466 in Naogaon, 8,456 in Natore, 4,759 in Joypurhat, 21,825 in Bogura, 11,442 in Sirajganj and 12,865 in Pabna.  

A total of 1,15,321 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the deadly Coronavirus.

Of them, 1, 14,250 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their 14-day quarantine.
