27,000 kids to get dewormed in Ishwardi

A week-long national worm control programme has started from Sunday at Ishwardi in Pabna in primary and secondary level educational institutions. Children in the age group of 5 to 11 years and 12 to 16 years in the secondary level will be given one dose of deworming medicine by attending all the primary level 

educational institutions of the 

upazila.

The Disease Control Branch of the Department of Health under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been conducting worm control activities for children aged 5 to 16 years with the aim of 

eradicating worms from the country by 2025.

To this end, medicine programme started for agricultural control from Sunday from the Sheikh Government Primary School in Muladuli Union of the upazila. 

Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex Health and Family Planning Officer Dr FA Asma Khan inaugurated the programme. Health Inspector Zahurul Islam, Assistant Health Inspectors Abul Hashem, Mizanur Rahman, Statistics Officer Nazneen Afroz and school teachers were present on the occasion. 

In addition, seven junior doctors were immediately selected to administer the deworming medicine at the school. They were also present at the time. They are playing a special role in the medication of the students and the activities are becoming easier, said Dr Asma Khan.

Dr Asma Khan said that all children between the ages of 5 and 16 will be given one dose of deworming medicine free of cost in all the educational institutions of primary and secondary level in Ishwardi. 

She said that 27,000 children studying in all primary and secondary schools of Ishwardi would be taken to the school for deworming of anti-worm medicine periodically. 

This activity will continue till March 26.
