Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 25.44 tones of government rice allocated under the different development projects from a godown in Gopinathpur Bazar area of Akkalpur upazila in Joypurhat on April13
RAB arrested the owner of the godown in this connection. The arrested was identified as Gopinathpur union AL President Israel Hossain Jubel, son of late Nazir Uddin of Gopinathpur village of Akkelepur upazila in Joypurhat.
RAB-5 camp company commander Additional Police Super M M Mohimenur Rashid said that rice was seized operating a special drive from a godown of Gopinathpur Bazar area of Akkelepur upazila which was allocated for different Government Development Projects.
Israel Hossain Jubel initially acknowledged that he hoards the government rice tactically for marketing with high price, sources said. A case has been lodged with Akkelpur police station in this regard, RAB commander said.
