With the Sharadiya Durga Utsav—the biggest religious festival for the Hindu community—fast approaching, preparations are now complete at 25 Puja mandaps across Jibannagar upazila in Chuadanga.
Artisans have completed the crafting of idols and are now focused on the final touches, beautifying the goddess with detailed painting work. The mandap areas have been adorned with vibrant lighting and decorations to create a festive atmosphere.
To ensure peaceful and joyous celebrations, additional security measures have been put in place at each mandap. The local Hindu community is already in a festive mood, which will continue until the immersion of the idols.
According to Sri Jibon Sen, convener of the Jibannagar Puja Celebration Committee, this year’s Durga Puja will be celebrated at 25 mandaps: 3 in Jibannagar Municipality, 5 in Uthli Union, 4 in Monoharpur, 3 in KDKE Union, 2 in Andulbaria, 3 in Raypur, 1 in Hasadah, 2 in Banka, and 2 in Simanto Union. All idols have been completed and the mandaps have been decorated, including arrangements for colourful lighting at night. The festival will officially begin on 28 September and conclude on Thursday with the idol immersion.
