Rangpur division recorded 24.65 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 162 fresh cases were reported after testing 430 newly collected samples at the two Covid-19 laboratories on Sunday.
“The Covid-19 positivity rate is mostly showing a rising trend in recent weeks in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 27.38 percent on Saturday, 25.27 percent on Friday, 38.40 percent on Thursday, 23.27 percent on Wednesday, 24.74 percent on Tuesday and 24.17 percent on Monday last in the division.
Among the 106 new patients, 43 were reported positive after diagnosing 148 newly collected samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the daily positivity rate of 29.05 percent on Sunday.
“The 43 new patients include 26 from Rangpur, seven from Kurigram, three from Lalmonirhat and seven from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:45 pm.
On the other hand, 63 new patients were reported after diagnosing 282 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 22.34 percent today.
“The 63 new Covid-19 infected patients include 43 from Dinajpur, five from Thakurgaon, six from Nilphamari and nine from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.
Acting Divisional Director (Health) Dr Abu Md Zakirul Islam the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 40,172 as 106 new positive cases were reported on Sunday from across the division.
The district-wise break up of total 40,172 patients stands at 8,803 in Rangpur, 2,260 in Panchagarh, 3,154 in Nilphamari, 2,080 in Lalmonirhat, 3,004 in Kurigram, 5,546 in Thakurgaon, 11,928 in Dinajpur and 3,397 in Gaibandha of the division.
