Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) has launched 18 double decker and 4 AC buses on the city roads to meet the public transport crisis.

CCC Administrator Mohammad Khorshed Alam Sujon inaugurated the service at CEPZ Shahenshah Tower premises on Monday afternoon.

Speaking as the chief guest, Administrator Sujan said that every passenger should play a leading role so that no woman is victimized on the bus. Remember that a woman is our deposit in one way or another. He advised to inform the administrator directly on the mobile phone for any such problem or embarrassing situation.

Welcoming the government functionaries, he said the Awami League government has greatly improved the transport system by constructing roads in remote areas of the country. As a result of such development, all the products can be easily transferred. The number of mechanized vehicles in the city has increased and the cost of transportation in the transportation system has been comparatively reduced. The government has taken various projects to build a traffic-free and livable city. Work on several projects has also started.

The long-standing aspiration and expectation of the city dwellers was to launch BRTC bus service from Khatgar to Kalurghat. I personally realized the matter and sent a DO letter to the Ministry of Road Communications and Bridges a few days ago to alleviate the indescribable misery of public transport.

At the same time, the Hon'ble Minister responded to my call and gave 18 double decker and 4 AC buses in a very short time to alleviate the shortage of public transport in the city. For this I thank Hon'ble Minister Obaidul Quader and BRTC Chairman and all concerned. It is as if my desires have been fulfilled. I also hope that the city dwellers will enjoy the benefits.

BRTC bus is a state property, the administrator added. It is the right of every citizen to receive proper services. Inform the concerned in case of violation of this right. He directed to add BRTC service number and law enforcement number in every bus. Each bus should have a complaint box. So that passengers can drop any complaint in this box.

He warned the drivers that the BRTC buses would drop the passengers in the middle of the road before reaching the destination and if the passengers were transported outside the seat capacity, the bus driver would be immediately dropped off the bus. BRTC officials present agreed.

The administrator said that considering the differences between the past and the present, one can get a clear idea about the future of the improved transport system in Bangladesh. The pace at which the transport system of Bangladesh is developing suggests that in the near future Bangladesh will become a country of advanced transport system.

He also addressed the passengers and said that there was a request to use these buses carefully as it is the property of the state.

ADC Port Pankaj Barua was the special guest at the inaugural function. Private Secretary of Administrator Mohammad Abul Hashem, Former Councilor Ziaul Haque Sumon, BRTC Masud Talukder, Mohammad Mofiz Uddin, CEPZ Officer-in-Charge Utpal Barua, Mohammad Elias, Mohammad Sultan Nasir Uddin, Freedom Fighter Abu Taher, Abdur Rahman Mia, Azad Khan Avi, Swapan Singh, Muntasir Jamil was present at this occasion.
