21 workers from Kishoreganj missing in Rupganj fire

Twenty-one workers, including six members of the same family in Kishoreganj, are reported missing in a horrific fire at Rupganj in Narayanganj. Asma Akhter and Sohag Mia of Gauripur village in Katiadi upazila of the district came back alive after jumping from the third floor of the factory. The missing persons are Naeem of Karimganj upazila, Shahida of  Nikli upazila, Khadija and Pakima of village Golakandail Khalpar, Mina Khatun, Salina of Kishoreganj Sadar, Rina, Farzana of Karimganj upazila, Mst Rahima, Shahana, SSC examinee Nazmul Islam of Sadar upazila, Taslima of village Gouripur, Rabeya of Katiadi upazila, Shayela, Rehena, Jahanara, Hakima, Mahmuda and six person of the same family of Joyka union of Karimganj upazila.

Six members of the same family are missing in Kadamtali village of Karimganj upazila in the district. Talking to Salem Uddin, the elderly guardian of the family, he said, "Six people including my son's wife, daughter and grandson are still missing." Maybe everyone died in the fire. My eldest son Abu Bakkar and Jahanara's husband are there, looking for them. I don't know what happened. 

It is learned that the fire started on Thursday at 5:42 pm on the ground floor of Hashem Food and Beverage Factory in Karnagop area of Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj. At that moment the fire spread around. Three people died on the spot after jumping from the factory building after the fire broke out. In addition, many more workers were trapped inside the building. So far, 21 male and female workers of Kishoreganj are on the missing list.

Visiting Sadar Upazila, Katiadi Upazila and Karimganj Upazila, it can be seen that the surrounding environment has become heavy with the cries of the relatives of the missing workers. Tears of blood that makes others cry too.

Chan Mia, father of SSC examinee Nazmul Islam, a missing worker from South Kalianda village in Danapatuli union of Sadar upazila, said Nazmul left for the factory two months ago as the school was closed due to poor family weather and corona. Nazmul spoke to his mother for the last time on Wednesday. He broke down in tears saying that his son would never come again.

Asma Akhter, a resident of Gauripur village in Katiadi upazila of the district, who came back injured after jumping from the third floor of the factory, said, "I was baking bread on the third floor at that time." Suddenly I heard that the office was on fire. Then everyone started running here and there. When I went down the stairs, I saw a fire burning there as well. Then many people including me jumped from the third floor. I don't remember anything after that. I fell in the hospital.
