21 Jamaat, Shibir men get jail term

21 Jamaat-Shibir activists were sentenced to two years imprisonment for setting fire to a police vehicle in Brahmanbaria. They were also fined Tk 1,000 each and imprisoned for one more month for non-payment. 

Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court Judge Md. Masood Parvej gave the verdict on Sunday afternoon. At that time, out of 21 accused, seven were present in the court. The court has issued arrest warrants against the other 14 accused. According to court sources, during the strike on December 4 in 2012, a police food truck was set on fire on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway in Pirbari area of Brahmanbaria town.

The police named 13 people as accused in the case and filed a case  accusing 22 others.
