204 more dengue patients hospitalised

In the last 24 hours (till 8 am, Saturday), 204 more people have been hospitalized with dengue across the country.Of them, 194 were admitted to various government and private hospitals in the capital Dhaka while 10 to hospitals outside Dhaka.

This information was given in the regular dengue report of the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Health Department on Saturday.

Earlier 214 people were diagnosed with dengue in the country on Friday, 218 on Thursday, 237 on Wednesday, 264 on Tuesday.

A maximum of 287 people were admitted to the hospitals last Monday.

At present, the total number of patients admitted to various government and private hospitals in the country is 997. Of these, 958 people have been admitted to 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, while 39 others are admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka.

According to the report, 4,319 people have been admitted to the hospital from January 1, this year to August 7. Meanwhile 3,312 of them recovered and left hospitals at the same time.

In the meantime, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has reported 10 deaths from suspected dengue. 

However, IEDCR has not yet completed a review of any deaths and has not confirmed any deaths due to dengue.

Dengue has emerged as a new terror amid the Corona pandemic. The mosquito borne disease has made the medical system more fragile while it is dealing with Covid-19. 

In addition, hospitals are struggling to cope with the situation.
