Jashore Municipality has prepared a ‘master plan’ for well-planned and modern urbanization. This master plan has been formulated with a combination of many community facilities including education, health and entertainment.
There are also various plans to solve the existing civic problems. Jashore Municipality with modern urban structure will be formed through this master plan for a period of 20 years from 2017 to 2036.
Meanwhile, Jashore Municipality has many more concepts around the newly created master plan which includes the construction of bypasses around the town. The master plan also includes the construction of a park, walkway and a bridge on the banks of the Bhairab. Besides, sculptures and construction of five entrances have been mentioned at various circulation points of the town to enhance the beauty.
Jashore Municipality sources said that bypasses will be constructed around the expanded municipal area to reduce the pressure of people and vehicles. The tradition of this district will be built for the decoration of date tree sculpture. ‘Allahu’ will be written there. The proposed linear park by the river will have seating arrangements of various designs for sitting.
Besides, the new bridge will be constructed in Bakultala area near Daratana of the town. From there the bridge will extend across the river to Ghop Nawapara Road. The bridge will be connected to the U-turn at a junction just before Jorabari, a short distance from 250-bed general hospital. In addition to this, a seven-kilometer-long ‘walkingway’ will be constructed along the river bank.
It is learned that Jashore Municipality has taken the initiative to prepare this master plan through the third Urban Management and Infrastructure Improvement (Sector) Project of the Local Government Engineering Department-LGED.
In short, this master plan prepared UGPIIP-3 under Package-2 has taken initiative to create multi-sectoral short-term investment plan. And it has included various aspects of improving the quality of life of the town dwellers including land use, sanitation, transportation, communication, environmental management.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Sultana Sajia, urban planner of the municipality, said that with the implementation of this master plan, it will be possible to build a modern town structure in Jashore.
Jashore Municipality sources said that analysis of existing and future needs shows that there is a lack of education, health, entertainment and community facilities in the municipal area.
In order to improve this situation, the master plan has proposed three facilities in education, nine facilities in health, four facilities in entertainment and 17 facilities at community level. It even has plans to build women and child-friendly urban structures.
The plan also mentions separate arrangements for women for sidewalks and public toilets, separate seating areas along parks and rivers. There is also a playground proposal in each primary school. The master plan states that the councilor of each ward will provide office, market and administrative facilities in his area.
Apart from these, there are plans to build more infrastructures including parks, playgrounds and stadiums in Jashore Municipality considering the growing situation in the coming days.
Jashore Municipality Secretary Md Azmol Hossain told the Bangladesh Post that each area has been identified separately in the master plan. Even separate plans have been formulated for each area. In this case, separate plans have been made for each residential and commercial area.
As a result, from now on, no one will be able to set up any infrastructure outside of this plan. He added that if the master plan is implemented, a self-sufficient model municipality with all kinds of civic amenities, environment friendly and modern infrastructure will be formed.
