2 women held with 61,000 Yaba pills

Police arrested two women with 61 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets from Shayestaganj, Notun Bridge area of Habiganj on Wednesday night. Habiganj Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ullah confirmed the information in a press conference on Thursday night. 

The arrestees are Nahida Begum, 27, wife of Sohel Mia of Kalkini upazila of Madaripur and Shaina Akhter, 40, daughter of Abdul Kadir of Muralganj upazila of Bagerhat.

The SP said that Nahida and Shahina were going to Dhaka on Wednesday night from Sylhet. A team led by additional Superintendent of Police SM Raju Ahmed stopped the bus at Notun Bridge area of Shayestaganj. Police detained the women while they tried to flee. Later they found the Yaba’s sealed in 255 packets searching their bodies.  

Habiganj DB Police Sub Inspector Abul Kalam Azad filed a case against them. On Thursday, the arrestees gave a confessional statement in the court of Sultan Uddin Pradhan, Senior Judicial Magistrate of Habiganj. They were later sent to hajat.

The SP also said the arrestees have said the names of several others involved in the Yaba shipment and Police are trying to arrest the remaining accused.
