Two schoolboys were killed after a truck rammed the motorbike they were riding on in Baromaisa area in Nokla upazila in Sherpur on Friday. The deceased were identified as seventh grader Maruf Mia, 13, son of Abdul Hakim, and eighth grader Hamidul Islam, 15, son of Selim Mia of the upazila.
Mohammad Alamgir Hossain Shah, Officer-In-Charge of Nokla Police Station, said the truck rammed the motorbike coming from the opposite direction in the area at around 12pm, leaving Maruf dead on the spot and Hamidul severely injured. Hamidul was taken to Nokla Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, the OC added. The OC also said police arrested Md Forhad Ali, the helper of the truck, and a case was filed in this connection.
