Police arrested two youths on Tuesday night in connection with stabbing and mugging a student of East West University in Dhaka’s Aftabnagar area on April 2.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (DC) for Gulshan Division Abdul Ahad confirmed the matter.
The arrestees are Imran Hossain alias Jhawali, 23, and Shahjahan.
Imran was wanted in seven cases while Shahjahan in one case.
Acting on tip, a team of policemen, led by BaddaZone Assistant Commissioner TayasirZahanBabu, conducted a drive in Anandanagar area and arrested the two at about 11:35pm on Tuesday, said DC Ahad.
They also seized two sharp weapons, one blood-stained shirt, and a mobile phone of the victim.
After primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they were involved in mugging, the DMP official said. Two muggers attacked ApurnaAkterIti, a student of the pharmacy department of the university, on April 2 when she was returning home from a gym at about 10:00pm.
They hit her with a sharp weapon, leaving her wounded, and snatched away her mobile phone.
