Two motorcyclists were killed in Sirajganj on Sunday after a bus ran over them.
The incident occurred on Dhaka-Pabna highway in Boalia area of Ullapara upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shariful Islam, 30, son of Mizanur Rahman, resident of Matikata village under Pangasi union in Ullapara upazila and his friend Naeem Sarkar, 28, resident of Ratankandi village in Shahjadpur upazila.
Confirming the information, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rouf of Hatikumrul highway police station said, two motorcyclists were heading towards Ullapara when a bus traveling from Pabna to Dhaka ran over them. As a result, the motorcycle rider died on the spot, and the other rider was seriously injured. While being taken to the hospital, the second rider also passed away. A team from the highway police was sent to the scene.
The local police arrived at the scene and took the damaged motorcycle to the police station. However, the bus responsible for the accident fled the scene, he added.
OC Abdur Rouf also said that since the family had no complaints, the bodies were handed over to the family.
