Two persons were killed in a road accident in Madaripur's Sadar upazila on Tuesday night.
The accident took place around 10 pm at Pakhira under Sadar upazila on the Madaripur-Shariatpur regional highway.
The deceased were Rifat Bali, 19, son of Mohammad Ali Bali, a resident of Chiharchar of Madaripur Sadar Upazila, and Maruf Sardar, 30, of Mridhar Mor area of the same upazila.
It was known that the two were going towards Matherbazar from Madaripur town at night riding on a motorcycle. At around 10:00 pm, when they reached Pakhira, a three wheeler coming from the opposite direction collided with their motorcycle. Rifat Bali died on the spot.
Later, locals rescued the injured Maruf Sardar and brought to Madaripur Sadar Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Madaripur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AHM Salauddin said the bodies have been handed over to their families after legal proceedings.
