Reckless driving took the life of a rickshaw puller and a passenger when a speedy bus knocked down his rickshaw from behind, near Baniajuri bus stand area under Ghior upazila on the Dhaka- Aricha Highway on Saturday. The deceased were identified as rickshaw puller Ayjuddin Molla, 40, son of Rashid Molla of Shuldhara village in Ghior upazila and the passenger Selim Miah, 38, son of Sonamuddin of Poyla village in Shivalaya upazila in Manikganj district.
Officer in charge (OC) of Borangail Highway Police Station Basudeb Singha said that, the accident took place at around 1:30 pm when a Dhaka bound speedy bus of Jatriseba poribahon hit a passenger leaden ricksaw from behind and the rickshaw got twisted into several pieces, leaving dead on the spot. Police could not seize the Bus and its driver and helper escape. The bodies were sent to Manikganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered with Borangail Highway Police Station in this regard.
