2 hundi traders held with $500,000 in Jashore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two alleged hundi traders along with five lakh US dollars from Ulashi area in Sharsha upazila of Jashore on Sunday. 

The value of the rescued dollar is about four and a half crore taka. A private car used by them was also seized at the time. The detainees are Hridoy Mia, 20, son of Rashid Bepari of Khaguria village in North Matlab upazila of Chandpur and Ashraful Islam, 26, son of Mofizul Islam of Tulatula village in Daudkandi upazila Comilla. 

49 BGB Battalion comanding officer Lt.Colonel Selim Reza said a BGB team took up position at Ulashi on basis of secret information. They searched a Dhaka-bound private car and recovered five lakh US dollars hidden in a special way. Hridoy Mia and Ashraful Islam were arrested at the time. He added that the detainees said they were involved in hundi and gold smuggling. A case was filed in Sharsha thana in this connection.
