2 held with arms in Joypurhat

Two suspected arms dealer along with huge amount of weapons were arrested in a raid at “Jamalganj Charmatha” area in Jamalpur union of Joypurhat Sadar upazila at the early hours of Tuesday. 3 imported pistols, 4 rounds of bullets, 4 magazines, 6 cocktails and local weapon  were recovered in the raid from some shops in a market at that area. 

The arrestees were identified as  Ranju Sarker of Jamalpur village under Sadar upazila and Akkas Ali of Ziapur village under the same upazila.  

Officer in Charge (OC) of Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Md. Shahriar Khan said, on secret information they raided the market and recovered those weapons hidden inside some shops of the market.  He claimed the arrestees were not only making local weapons but also smuggling firearms into the country from India. They were selling those weapons to criminals. There are 8 cases lodged against Ranju Sarker, he added.
