Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested two men with 35 pieces of gold bars from Ruddropur frontier in Sharsha upazila in Jashore district on Wednesday.
The detained were identified as Yakub Ali (32),son of Anarul Islam resident of Amlai village and Atier Rahman,45,resident of Gopalpur village under Sharsha upazila.
Commander of BGB 21 Lieutenant colonel Muhammad Tanvir Rahman said, on information, a team of the BGB conducted a raid in Ruddropur frontier area on Wednesday noon and detained Yakub Ali and Atier Rahman. BGB members also seized a private Car at the time searching the Car, they found the gold bars weighing 4 kg 90 grams. Later, the seized goods and the arrested suspect was transfered to police custody.
A case was filed in Sharsha Police Station in this connection.
In this regard, Border Guard Bangladesh officials said that such operation will be continued to secure border areas so that smuggling and other crimes can be curbed down.
