A Chattogram court granted bail to two member of Chattogram Cultural Academy on Tuesday who were accused in a case filed for hurting religious sentiment over singing an Islamic song at the Durga Puja mandap in JM Sen Hall in Chattogram city during Durga Puja.
Earlier, Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Ullah ordered to send the two accused to jail on Sunday.
The two accused who got bail are Shahidul Karim, 42, a teacher at the Tangimul Ummah Madrasa and Mohammad Nurul Islam, 34, a teacher at Darul Ifran Academy.
Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Kazi Shariful Islam granted their bale.
The defense lawyer, Shamsul Alam, stated that Shahidul Karim and Mohammad Nurul Islam, who were arrested in a case filed for performing Islamic songs at a puja mandap in JM Sen Hall, appealed for their bail on October 12.
Later, the court granted them bail after the hearing on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Kotwali police detained them for questioning on October 10. Later, Sukanta Bikash Mohajan, the treasurer of the Chittagong Metropolitan Puja Udjapon Committee, filed a case against six members of the Chattogram Cultural Academy and the joint secretary of the Puja Celebration Committee, Sajal Dutta, at the Kotwali police station.
