Police detained two persons for their alleged involvement in cheating people identifying themselves as doctors in Rajshahi city on Tuesday.

Police sources said the arrested persons were identified as Salman Sharif Babu, 35, son of Nazrul Islam, and Zahidul Islam Zahid, 37, son of Moidul Islam.

Quoting a complaint, police said the two persons in accomplice with some of their cohorts were involved in fraudulence with innocent people. On last Monday night, they collected blood from Sirajul Islam, who was undergoing treatment in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, for test.

Afterwards, they demanded Taka 4,000 as test fee from the relatives of Sirajul at the nearby Rajshahi Diagnostic Centre. When the relatives refuse to pay the exorbitant fees the fraudulent gang snatched Taka 4,050 from them forcibly.

Sirajul's son Sumon Ali lodged a case with Rajpara Police Station in this connection.

On a tip-off, a police team conducted a sudden raid at Luxmipur area and arrested the two persons this noon.

Mazharul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station, said they are trying to bring other gang members to book as early as possible.
