Two persons were electrocuted during catching of fish at a pond at Darai village under Jamgram union of Kahaloo upazila under Bogura district on Wednesday noon.
The victims were identified as Yousuf Ali (30) son of Siraj Ali and Shahidul Islam (50) son of Tamir Uddin of the same village. According to sources, on Wednesday morning villagers saw a large fish floating on the water of a pond of the village. To catch the fish, Yousuf tried to descend in the water of the pond by catching an electric pole nearby but he was electrocuted.
Shahidul Islam rushed to rescue him but he also got stuck and electrocuted. Later on, local people rescued them and took them to a local hospital where attending doctors declared them dead.
Mahmud Hasan, Police Inspector of Kahaloo Police station has confirmed the incident of death of two persons due to electrocution at Darai village.
