2 die in alien disease, 3 fall sick in same family at Thakurgaon

Two persons died and three more infected in an alien disease of the same family at Songaon village under Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon district during last two-day. Infected persons have been admitted to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital and are learnt to be recuperating. The death and infection in the unidentified disease have created panic in the area. 

A medical team has visited the village and advised the people of the village and neighbours to take precautionary measure in this connection.  According to sources, Mina Begum(35) wife of Hafizul Islam of Songaon village suddenly fell ill on Friday night and died at her home the same night. On Saturday night Pashina Begum(40) wife of Hajirul(40) and elder brother of Hafizul also fell ill and she was admitted to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex where she was treated by doctors and returned home on after recovering but she also died at her home on Sunday morning. 

Aftermath of the incidents, three more persons including Tanjila Akhter(13) daughter of late Mina Begum, Hajera Khatun, mother in law of late Poshina Begum and Aleya Akhter of same village turned ill and have been admitted to  Thjakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital. Doctors at the hospital said, the admitted patients were under intensive observation but they were not sure of the cause of their illness. 

Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman Sarker, Civil Surgaon of Thakurgaon informed, a medical team has visited the village to identify the cause of death of two women and infection of three others. However, all three admitted patients at the hospital were now in stable condition, he added.  It is learnt, during last year four persons of a same family died of being attacked with Nipah virus. Local people apprehended the recent deaths of two women and infection of three more might be caused by Nipah virus as well.
