Two people, including a two-year-old girl, were killed and 15 others injured after a passenger jeepney's brake failed, causing it to hit several vehicles in the Philippines' Laguna province, south of Manila, police said Saturday.
The accident occurred past 5 p.m. local time on Friday in Nagcarlan town while the jeepney was negotiating a descending road, police said.
The wayward jeepney then hit a tricycle, an e-bike, a sports utility vehicle, and a truck along its path. It also rammed into a parked private jeep and two motorcycles on the roadside before it stopped. A 45-year-old man, who was crossing the street, and a woman, passenger of the e-bike, died while on the way to a local hospital, police added.
Police detained the driver of the jeepney.
