2-day EEE Day begins at RUET

Engineering (EEE) Day 2023 began at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Friday with the call for more research and innovation in the field of electrical and electronics for the betterment of the nation.

The festival provided a highly interactive platform in which leading experts and researchers in the field of electrical and electronic engineering discussed recent scientific advances and sought cooperation from all over the world. To mark the day, the department of EEE brought out a colourful rally from premises of the EEE department parading main thoroughfares of the RUET campus largely joined by faculty deans, directors, department heads, teachers, students, officers and employees.

Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Jahangir Alam led the rally that ended at the central auditorium where a discussion meeting was held highlighting the significance and importance of electronics and electrical engineering in public life.

With EEE departmental head Prof Selim Hossain in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by VC Jahangir Alam, former VC Prof Rafiqul Islam Sheikh, Dean of Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Professor Rabiul Islam and Managing Director of KDH Engineering Limited Engineer Kazi Anwar Hossain.

In his remarks, Prof Jahangir Alam said the event focused on the rapid strides and technological advancements in EEE in recent years. It opened a forum for technical excellence and exchange of technology between technocrats, research scholars and representatives from academia and industry. He added that engineering and technology play pivotal roles in the development of today's world. Widespread research and innovative practices are propelling the world to a new plateau of development. Celebration of the day provided an ample opportunity to academicians, engineers, professionals, researchers, specialists and students from home and abroad for sharing to curve the engineering challenges leading to sustainable development.

Salient features of the event are: idea contest, project showcasing, matlab contest, robo fight, circuit Olympiad and tactics tournament.

Various modern issues like microwave and radio frequency, electrical machine, optical fiber communication, instrumentation and measurement, electro- magnetic field, power plant and high voltage engineering, smart power grid, multimedia system and image processing are being discussed elaborately in the event.

Besides, discussion will be held on various issues, including formation of an industry panel, signing of memorandum of understanding and expansion of technical and industrial field, in the two-day event.

Around 300 teachers, scientists, researchers and experts from both home and abroad are taking part in the meet being held for taking technological growth one step forward as engineering and technology play a pivotal role in the development of today's world.
