Two children drowned separately in tidal water at Mehendiganj of Barishal on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased children were identified as Afia, 7, daughter of Monir Matubbar of Dhulia Madhyachar area under Mehendiganj Sadar Union and Farhan, son of Maidul Munshi of Darirchar Khajuria area.
Farhan drowned in the tidal water while visiting his maternal house in Kalitala area of Ulania union of the same upazila. Afia died at her own home.
Assistant Commissioner of District Administration Subrata Kumar Biswas said the lower part of the district got submerged in tidal water in the afternoon causing the death of those two children.
