Two brothers were awarded life term rigorous imprisonment in Thakurgaon on Sunday for killing a youth in the district in 2014. Additional District and Sessions Judge of Thakurgaon BM Tarikul Islam delivered the verdict in a crowded court. The court also fined the convict Tk 10,0000, in default, six months more imprisonment.
The convicts are Jakir Hossain and Khaleq, sons of Nazrul Islam of Salnondor village under Thakurgaon sadar upazila. The court, however, acquitted their mother Khoteza Begum as charges brought against her were not proved. According to the case statement, Imam Hossain Hira, son of Nurul Islam, came under attack by the two brothers on October 10 in 2014 at Shantinagar area in the town. He died on the way to the Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
